Workshop Vehicle Technician - Job overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Workshop Vehicle Technician to join the busy Newport team. The ideal candidate will be suitably experienced in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing a wide range of vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
  • Perform routine servicing and inspections in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Complete repair work efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
  • Work with diagnostic equipment and software to troubleshoot issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out u and parts used, using our internal systems.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager and Service Advisors regarding job status and customer requirements.
  • Support and mentor junior technicians when required.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with modern vehicle systems and diagnostic tools.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Experienced MOT Tester ( advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles.
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume workshop environment.
